A - slcbyowner.com is a local, independent marketing service that brings buyers and sellers together without high priced real estate agent commisions. Our mission is to be the #1 resource for buyers and sellers of for sale by owner homes in Salt Lake City.

Q - What do I get by using slcbyowner.com to sell my house?
A - Your house will be listed with up to 10 photos on our website with as much space as you need. We will deliver a professional yard sign with a brochure box to your home and pick it up when you are through. You will have 24/7 access to your online listing to add/update information and photos. We advertise our site in all major Salt Lake City newspapers and use other marketing strategies to guide buyers to our site and your home.

Q - What do I get by using slcbyowner.com to buy my house?
A - When you buy a for sale by owner home you interact directly with the owner. You get to ask owners about their home's history, the neighborhood, schools, etc. You don't have to work around both the owner's agent and your agent's schedule. Owners who are not paying thousands of dollars to agents might be more willing and able to negotiate on the selling price.

Q - How much does your service cost?
A - We will list your house on our site and deliver the sign within 3 days of listing your home for $129. This is a one-time fee and will cover listing your home until it is sold or you take it off the market.

Q - Is it better to sell my own home than to list it with an agent?
A - Sellling a home is not for everyone. However, keep this in mind: the average home seller in Utah will pay a real estate agent at least $11,000 to list their home. This fee does not include appraisals, inspections, mortgage fees, etc. "By Owner" sellers can list their home lower, attract more buyers, and still walk away from closing with more money in their pocket.

Q - How long will it take for my listing to be active?
A - If you pay by credit card your listing will be active immediately. Payment by check or money order will delay your listing by approximately 5 business days.

Q - How long will my listing be active?
A - Your listing will remain active until you tell us that your house has sold, you take the house off the market, or you decide to list your house with an agent.

Q - What do I do when I sell my house?
A - When someone has made an offer on your house you can change the status of your listing to pending. We will replace the phone number rider on your sign with a sale pending rider. When your sale has closed you can log in and change the status of your listing to "sold". We will then come and pick up the sign.

Q - Can I list my house with an agent while it is on slcbyowner.com?
A - No. slcbyowner.com is a service for buyers and sellers of for sale by owner homes. Many sites claim to service for sale by owner homes when the majority of their homes are agent listings. We'd like to live up to our client's expectations.

Q - Do you offer any help with the process of buying or selling a home?
A - Other than helping with marketing, we do not get involved in the buying/selling process. We do, however, offer valuable legal forms for Utah. We also have a list of real estate professionals who can help with the process--inspectors, appraisers, mortgage brokers and real estate attorneys. These are the same people that you would pay to help you even if you had listed your house with an agent.
